Julien A. Raemy arbeitet derzeit als Data Scientist und Projektmanager im Schweizerischen Bundesarchiv. Er ist ausserdem Assoziierter Forschender an der Universität Bern (Walter Benjamin Kolleg, Digital Humanities). Er hat seine Promotion am Digital Humanities Lab der Universität Basel abgeschlossen, wo er seine Dissertation mit dem Titel Linked Open Usable Data for Cultural Heritage: Perspectives on Community Practices and Semantic Interoperability im November 2024 erfolgreich verteidigt hat. Darüber hinaus besitzt er einen Bachelor- und einen Master-Abschluss in Informationswissenschaft der Fachhochschule Westschweiz (HES-SO).

Er verfügt über umfangreiche Erfahrung im akademischen Bereich und im Kulturerbebereich, unter anderem als Fotoarchivar für das Montreux Jazz Digital Project an der Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (2015-2017), als Forschungs- und Lehrassistent an der Haute école de gestion de Genève (2017-2021) und als Interoperability Specialist am DaSCH, Swiss National Data and Service Center for the Humanities (2021-2024).

Er ist ein aktives Mitglied von International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF) und gehört zum Linked Art Editorial Board.
